Was 2019 a good year for your business? Did your website get enough exposure to make sales exactly the way you wanted? Did you enjoy some success with your SEO strategies and activities? How high did your page rank on search engine results?

We all know how saturated and competitive the internet marketplace has got over the past few years. New businesses spring up every day looking to get a share of the spoil that is generating leads and making sales. Let me be blunt with you for a minute; SEO is inevitable for any serious business looking to make sales in this day and age.

What is SEO?

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the term that describes all the activities done to get as much exposure for a webpage as possible on search results. Basically, when you and I have a question, we go to Google or Bing or any other search engine and search for answers. In most cases, we almost never have to scroll past the first five search results or go to the second page of the search results. This means that there's something those first five websites did that made them rank first. That's what SEO means.

The aim of SEO is to make your website more visible and rank higher in search results so that your website gets more organic traffic and make more sales in the process.

Why is SEO Important?

Let's imagine for a second that you own a business in a crowded location and there are other businesses on the same block offering the same services as your business. Would it be important that you make your business as distinct and visible as possible so that you can naturally attract more people to your store? Yes, right?

It's the same thing in the online sphere. Competition for exposure is so fierce that it almost seems like a never-ending struggle to keep getting more domain visibility for your business. So I guess SEO is important only if you want to rank higher and get on the first page of Google and other search engines.

What are the Absolute SEO tips for 2020?

The only constant thing in this world is change. Change affects everything, sometimes creeping in unnoticed. Many websites enjoyed favorable rankings for a few months before disappearing into obscurity due to their inability to keep up with the constantly changing needs of the SEO game. That's why, after a lot of research, I have come up with a few foolproof SEO tips you will need in the coming year 2020.

  • Mobile-Friendly Websites will still get indexed first

More than 80% of internet users browse the web from their mobile devices. This number is still expected to rise in 2020. Mobile devices are easy to use on-the-go and since most people need to find stuff on-the-go, it is only logical to optimize all webpages to be mobile-friendly as well. There's no need for us to act like we don't already know what Google considers when indexing websites. Google has a mobile-first policy which means websites that have optimized pages to display perfectly on mobile devices get indexed first and are brought up first in search results.

  • Rich and helpful content will still prevail

If you're looking to get higher website rankings, then work on developing rich and helpful content that will draw organic traffic to your website. Keywords used to be the most important thing when doing SEO, but Google has recently changed that policy and now it considers how helpful the content on the website actually is. Google's web crawlers now analyze how simple, understandable and useful your web content is before your page is indexed. So, when creating content, remember to create content for people and not robots.

  • Website navigation will be important

How fast your website loads and how easy it is to switch between pages will affect your website rankings a lot. People who use search engines often need an answer they can use immediately, so it might be impossible for them to wait for your website to load maybe for a minute before it finally displays your content. Consider trimming down on media content and other plugins that take time to load so that your website speed can match the best pages on Google's index.

  • Video Marketing will be a huge goldmine

According to recent trends, internet users are more likely to watch videos than to read through articles. So, it would be a genius move to add video marketing to your SEO strategy for 2020. The best part is that you can easily turn articles into videos that will still get your audience glued to their screens and keep coming back to your site for more.

  • Voice Search Optimization will be more prominent

The age of artificial intelligence is finally upon us. Google assistant, Google Home, Siri, Bixby, Cortana, Amazon Alexa and many more AI engines are saving people from having to type out long search queries. It's a fact that mobile users hate to type long keywords, meaning that more people will use voice search to find more specific answers to their questions. It's imperative that you optimize your websites to keep up with this trend and watch them rise higher in search rankings.

These few tips are some of the absolute SEO tips you will definitely need in 2020. The earlier you use them to develop your SEO strategy for 2020, the better.
